Where Can I Find Out About Technology that Might Help My Child?
Technology can make a big difference for people with disabilities, enhancing their active participation in their communities. Adaptive or assistive technology is described in Federal Legislation as: "...any item, piece of equipment, or product system whether acquired off the shelf, modified or customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities." Your child's Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) must include a statement on the benefits of any recommended assistive device or service. There are several groups specializing in assistive device information, computer opportunities and equipment. You might also want to talk with your service coordinator or call WarmLine.
